Sabbotage

BLACK SABBATH tribute

SABBOTAGE One of the most experienced Tributes to Black Sabbath on the UK circuit

Sabbotage are a relatively new Black Sabbath tribute but already one of the most experienced on the UK circuit, having been formed from the ashes of both Snowblind and Blag Sabbath towards the end of 2014.
The band really do put on a very powerful Ozzy era Sabbath performance with plenty of songs from the early Sabbath catalogue; including several from Sabbath bloody Sabbath!

Oasish + Stereotonics

OASISH

Since the early days of Definitely Maybe, the number one selling debut album from Oasis, the whole world has been made to sit up and listen. This album alone changed the face of not only the British music scene, but the world over.

Oasish have now fine tuned their show so much so, that fans are now hailing them as being better than the real thing. Unlike other Oasis tributes, Oasish are a full 5 piece band and also play every single song note for note as it is on all of the albums. They have the look, the sound and most of all the ability to make any venue rock to the sounds of one of the most influential bands in history.

The vocal delivery given by Paul Higginson is based on how Liam sings live making every show as authentic as possible. The Noel plays either the exact copy Gibson Les Paul or the actual Noel Gallagher Union Jack signature model he designed. Everything is so precise that many would, and in fact have, been fooled into thinking they were watching the real thing.

As one lucky fan once said, Oasish were far more entertaining than the real thing on the 2 occasions I have seen them. If they were ever on the same bill at the same time I would watch Oasish every time!!!

STEREOTONICS

Formed in 1999, Stereotonics are widely regarded as the official Stereophonics tribute band. With a wealth of gigging experience and after over 1O years on the road they can claim to have played more shows than the real band themselves and any other Stereophonics tribute band in the country!

Lead singer, Paul, has made many TV appearances in the quest to get Stereotonics as much recognition as possible over the years and has appeared on ITV, BBC, Sky News, GMTV, Absolute Radio (formerly Virgin Radio) BBC Radio plus many local radio stations up and down the country. Indeed, the real Stereophonics have even heard them play and agree that they rock as much as the real thing.

Stereophonics guitarist, Adam Zindani even turned up at a gig in Birmingham in 2007 to see his tribute counterparts and was suitably impressed. Paul had also worked with Adam previously when his own band, Casino, actually supported Paul doing an acoustic show at The Rock Cafe 2000 in Stourbridge a few years ago. They even joined Paul on stage at the end of the night to back him during Bartender and the thief and A thousand trees. This is something that NO OTHER Stereophonics tribute can lay claim to.

Over the years, Paul has seen a few different faces come and go within Stereotonics but the current line-up has now been settled for over 5 years and is the best its ever been. With musicians that have played or worked alongside Robbie Williams, The Who, Vanessa Mae, Mark Owen, Jason Donovan, Chesney Hawkes, Nik Kershaw and many, many others there is no doubt whatsoever that whenever Stereotonics turn up to perform a show, be it in a small pub venue or a huge festival in front of thousands, the fact of the matter is that they can bring the ultimate Stereophonics experience that no others can.

Having met Kelly Jones on several occasions along with the other band members, Paul is now well known to the originals and has even been told that his own band sound as good as the original. In fact, in an email from Richard Jones (Stereophonics bass player) himself, he even said, You guys Rock!! Keep spreading the good word!! Best Wishes, Rich

Also, in recent radio interviews Kelly has been heard to say that Stereotonics sound the most like them than any other tribute band out there. Great praise from the main man himself and possibly the highest accolade any tribute band could receive.

So after a decade of travelling not just all over the UK but also into Abu Dhabi, Oman, Dubai, Ireland, Holland and other countries, Stereotonics still enjoy playing and will never tire of performing a back catalogue of songs that is so strong and powerful, they often leave audiences begging and screaming for more.

The current line-up consists of Paul as Kelly Jones, Tom as Richard Jones, Jodie as Javier Weyler and Tim as Adam Zindani. Tim is the newest recruit to Stereotonics and has made the big guitar sound of the band even closer and more authentic to the real thing.

So there you have it. A tribute band unlike any other, which even features Chesney Hawkes brother, Jodie on drums, Stereotonics do more than just deliver. They deliver with more power and style that any other tribute band could possibly even come close to.

Just Floyd

Maidstone-based Just Floyd are a five piece outfit who pride themselves on capturing the sound and feel that is the magic of Pink Floyd.

They have a lightness and relaxed authenticity to their performance that is often commented on and commended - and feels closer to the original spirit of Pink Floyd than some of the robotic, studio performances typical of many tribute bands. There is an edge to this bands sound - live music at its best.

Its no surprise that the current line-up has been described as the most authentic live Pink Floyd tribute.

Yet despite this accolade, the band do not proclaim to be an imitation - youll see no stage theatrics, costumes or acting; and no original, unreliable 1970s equipment! Just Floyd is about the music of Pink Floyd.

Playing around the UK, with the occasional excursion into Europe, notable gigs include the Blue Room at Londons O2 Arena for Roger Waters Saturday performance of The Wall, the open-air Bromley Amphitheatre and opening the three-day Crystal Palace Park Garden Party festival, some forty years after Pink Floyd headlined there.

This band can seemingly please even the most die hard Pink Floyd fans - audience comments such as spot on and absolutely brilliant are the norm, even at the smallest venues.

We humbly appreciate all the support you Floyd Fans have shown us - and look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming shows soon...Shine On...

Limehouse Lizzy

Limehouse Lizzy are officially one of the hardest working bands in the UK. They were accredited for their live shows by the Performing Rights Society in December 2011 and received their certificate from PRS Chairman (and respected songwriter) Guy Fletcher OBE.

Renowned for an action-packed pyrothechnic-fuelled explosion of a show, Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide. The band have also added a tribute into their show to ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist (and world renowned solo artist) Gary Moore who sadly passed away last year.

Attention to detail, playful audience interaction and that all important X-factor that leaves you with the feeling of witnessing the real thing have led to their performance being described as beyond tribute, by both audience and critics alike.

Following the enormous success of their Live & Dangerous & Dedication tours, the band embarked upon their Into the Limelight 2008 tour to tie in with their appearance on an episode of BBC2s Arena documentary series of the same name. The tour travelled as far as a headline slot at a Rock festival in Greece, and the Virgin Atlantic Music festival in Barbados. The band appeared alongside diverse world music acts, and played a Thin Lizzy set representing the celtic rock genre.

In 2012 the bands European tour continues to explore and celebrate the artistic and musical legacy of the hard-living, hard-rocking, yet at times surprisingly tender and romantic artist that was Philip Lynott. This year they will be appearing in the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Holland and Belgium.

Expect more of the Celtic influenced tracks like Whisky in the Jar and Black Rose, amongst the usual razzamatazz and classic tracks The Boys are Back in Town, Sarah and many others weve come to expect from one of the most highly rated acts on the circuit.

The John Otway Band

From the age of 9, John Otway knew he wanted to be a pop star. But having listened to his sisters Beatles and Stones records, he knew he would never be able to do what they do. However, when his sister got the latest Bob Dylan album, he knew there was a place for him and he set about learning how to play guitar. Otway had to wait until 1977 and the rise of punk before his dream of fame and fortune would finally become a reality. Having caught the eye of the producers of the BBCs Old Grey Whistle Test, Otways performance on that show would grab the attention of the watching audience. Otway, ever the showman, decided to jump on to the amplifier of his colleague during a performance of Bob Linds Cheryls Going Home. (Un)fortunately for Otway, he misjudged his leap and sent Wild Willy Barretts amplifier tumbling as he crashed down straddling the box under the amp. The full force of the impact was absorbed by the most tender part of his body, but in doing this one simple act of recklessness and his wanton disregard for his own safety, Otway was the talk of everyone who watched that evenings programme.

Not only did he see a surge in his audiences, sales of Otways sixth single, the half-spoken love song Really Free increased dramatically and reached number 27 in the UK Singles Chart. An appearance on the BBCs flagship music programme Top of the Pops, where Otway & Barrett were introduced by Elton John later, Otway was finally a star. It would however, be his greatest success for some time. Otway would have to wait 25 years for his next taste of chart success. In 2002, Otway achieved what he desired the most – a second hit. A concerted publicity campaign saw Otway reach number 9 with the disco pastiche Bunsen Burner and a second appearance on the Top of the Pops.

In 2016, Otway announced that he was planning to record a new album. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, he will take his band to the Caribbean island of Montserrat to become the first international recording artist to record there since the Rolling Stones in 1989

Wheatus

WHEATUS LIVE AT THE VIC, SWINDON

Tickets £18 adv - available from The Victoria and via the link below

Wheatus debut single Teenage Dirtbag cracked the Top 40 BBC Official Sales Chart for a second time in March of 2011, TEN YEARS after its debut at #2 on the same chart. To say that wheatus have been through the wringer in the decade between is the original understatement. Lawsuits, lineup changes, interstate art heist investigations (yes, really), betrayals, intellectual property theft, physical violence, post traumatic front man brendan b brown could write a book. To date their first record has sold more than 5 million copies world wide. Any manager or record label would be happy to tout those stats to the press but wheatus have remained unsigned & unmanaged for the last 8 years. Unlike many of their peers from the early oughts, wheatus continue to write, record, and tour 15 years after their inception, having taken control of their revenue stream with the home made, pick-your-price download system fans can use at wheatus.com. They have released 5 Studio albums since 2000 and are currently in preproduction for album 6.

Songs of Praise

FALSS ON DEAF EARS

A new originals rock band from Swindon set about changing things a little bit.

Only a little.

A incendiary collision of blues grooves, rock swagger and musical street smarts.

EVEN NINE

Bandy around the term pop-rock and the mind initially goes to some sort of middle of the road, fashion-driven dross that neither delivers the immediacy of the former nor the integrity of the later. But what if there was a way of taking the instant hook and inherent melody of a pop approach and weld it onto a driving, urgent and robust rock vehicle.

Surely anyone who could do that would be carried head high through the streets, would be called saviours, the rainmakers of this current music drought, would be regarded as heroes and brave cross-genre gene splicers of the modern musical age. Or if you are looking for a more modest title you could just call them Even Nine.
